Mary's "Healthy Habit"

Kelli wanted us to post ideas of healthy habits and such, so I thought I'd post what I'm going to try to do from here on out.

I recently found out I have high cholesterol (big surprise in our family, right?). One UNhealthy thing I've been doing is having toast and chocolate milk every morning for breakfast. Even when I changed the chocolate milk to a Carnation instant breakfast, I love me some butter, and white bread is pretty much straight sugar. So the Dr. said to try eating oatmeal.

THAT'S RIGHT, everyone....I'm going to try to eat OATMEAL for breakfast every morning. Or at least have it for A meal... I tried at Mom and Dad's, but I could only get half of a bowl down. Nick found these oatmeal packets that were cheap that have different flavors, and I hope to have more success with them. I actually had one that was apple cinnamon flavored that was actually pretty good. There is hope for me yet. :)

What do YOU think? Could your breakfast be healthier?

  1. I've actually been trying to eat oatmeal for breakfast too. I struggle on eating anything at all. Things get crazy and I just don't. So yeah, I usually go for Quaker Oats Instant - Apple Cinnamon or Maple and Brown Sugar.
    I've also heard it is good to get a little protein first thing in the morning.
