What bad habits are you having a hard time with? What goals/new habits have you made that you are struggling to accomplish?
I am having a really hard time waking up to exercise in the morning and I haven't been eating a good breakfast regularly. For the most part I have been getting to bed earlier. I just have a hard time getting out of my warm bed. Does anyone have some advice on that?

My problems include mostly me taking pity on myself. Sometimes when I hurt really bad, all that keeps me going is knowing that I have a chocolaty treat to keep my spirits up. I'm having a hard time to find a healthy replacement, so I choose mental health over physical most of the time. But it doesn't always work. I figure where I just had a really bad dip in my depression I need to do everything I can to stay positive.
ReplyDeleteMy triumphs are small - I made a home-made taco the other day. I know this isn't particularly healthy, but the triumph is in the fact that I was ABLE to stand up long enough to brown the beef and make a taco for myself. And it turned out pretty good! I DID rinse the beef with hot water in a strainer to get the excess grease off. So yay on that! ;)
One suggestion for getting out of bed - get an annoying alarm, and then put it across the room so you HAVE to get out of bed to turn it off. And make it repeat ever 5 or 10 min. Leave it where it is - don't take it back to bed with you. If you're constantly having to get out of bed, there's no point in staying in it. Also, keep some warm clothes by the bed so you can put them on as soon as you wake up. That way you'll warm up fast and the "warm bed" problem isn't as big of one. Another thing is to make the bed so that you're actively doing something to signal to yourself that bedtime is over.
I have a really hard time getting up in the wee hours of the morning because I don't get to bed until late, but I think I'm going to try these things myself. Another thing you could do with your alarm if simply putting it somewhere NOT right by your bed, have Phil put it somewhere not easily accessible and have him not tell you where it is. That way you have to FIND it as well as turn it off. That will get your blood pumping! Love you!
