Finally Loving Yourself

I have a certain lady that I take advice from every now and again. She is known as FLY Lady. She's got a pretty big group of people that follow her all over the nation. She is mainly about organizing yourself and your life, but there are many facets to her and her many emails she sends out. Anyway, if that's intriguing you can ask me later.

I want to talk about a FLY Lady thought I had last night. She calls it 'Loving Movements'. It's her way of encouraging others to take time to exercise and take care of themselves. We take so much time running around doing all of the things we 'have' to do and often our poor bodies get the short end of the deal. She encourages you to take 15 minutes (15!!!!) and do something for our bodies. Even if it is just to get up from our chair and walk around. Or to do our back exercises each day so we can strengthen our core and prevent injury. Doing some stretches or learning some relaxing yoga moves would be great.

There are lots of things that we could do to show our body that we love it. We need to make healthy choices for our bodies. Have you guys heard about the guy doing 'Fit to Fat to Fit'? He has a pretty big following. Anyway, this Trainer decided he was going to take 6 months to be completely lazy and gain a ton of weight. Then he would take 6 months to get fit again. This way he could feel how his clients felt and could be more supportive of them. Pretty extreme. Anyway, his whole first month of getting fit again they just did stretches. I don't know how hard core they were, but there was nothing aerobic about them. The main focus in the first month was eating habits and stretching to get the body ready. I don't think we need to take a month to stretch, but we do need to each work at our own pace.

So... just a thought. Love yourself and move your body. Make a goal, plan a time, and go!

  1. This is something I REALLY struggle with! Loving myself one way or the other - inside and out. ;) But this is a good idea! I would like to take walks with Nick every day, but he's been working 2 jobs, so he doesn't have any time until about 8 or 9 PM...so that poses a problem. Any suggestions on THAT?....

  2. It wouldn't hurt for you to go walk around your swimming pool area by yourself during the day. Just getting out and having a few minutes of sunshine and fresh air and some time to think to yourself is good. You could make friends with one of your neighbors and ask them to come out for a short jaunt and a visit. Once you get back to work you could walk around with a coworker during a break. Bundling up and going for a walk with your hubby isn't a terrible idea either. I would stay in the lit area by your apartments though.
